Both Reopened Mind and I are now in our early 60's and it seems our conversations lately have been on putting everything up for sale and buying a RV and travel until we can't anymore. It has been a dream of ours for along time to see all the site's in the U.S. and Canada. We feel we could make money as we go by selling and teaching using herbs and gardening. We have many contacts when it comes to that. If that does not work we could do odd jobs to support us. We would only do this when we can collect S.S. I know for many this sounds crazy but as we have come to realize you only live once. Our health is good and we are both very strong for our age. Reopened Mind is a herblist and wants to see other areas of the country and study other herbs that grow in that area. For me I would love to teach others about high density gardening so everyone could have fresh food. We both love camping and the outdoors. The biggest thing that concerns us is what would happen to us when we get to old to travel? Will we have enough money for this? Would we wake up 1 year into this adventure and say "what have we done". We both have worked for ourselves for most of our life so selling ourself would not be a problem in making extra money. Also we both feel if we don't try it, it will be something we will always regret. Plus we feel we would be able to meet some of you wonderful folks out there. One big dream is to go to flippers camping get together. We are both looking at this very closely weighing the pros and the cons of this idea. This would be something that we would undertake in about 2 to 3 years. So Please we are looking for all your opinions on this matter. For we feel this would be very helpful for us. I will from this point making a update on this from time to time so all will know which direction we will be going. Thank you for all your help. Still Totally ADD

I have told this story before. I was about 14 years of age at the time and a fellow school student ask me what the Wt. believed. It told him that the whole world was bad and god was going to kill everyone because they did not believe in the Wt. god. He listen to me and then I asked him what his church taught. He told me that god was love and that jesus loved everyone and would never hurt them. I was taken back by what he said. I had nothing else to say to him. I had no come back for what he told me. Here I am 60 years old and I still remember that conversation with him. Yes the Wt. cult does fail in 100 of ways with young people. Just one other thought when I was a kid I was told many times that children was not important. Because this was the time of the end and the only thing that was important was selling maz. Kingdom Halls Are the Perfect Safe Harbor For Pedophiles and Sex Offenders!
by BucketShopBill inwhy is the kingdom hall of jehovahs witnesses perfectly suited for pedophiles and sex offenders to park their boat (bodies)?
i live by the coastal area of one of the windiest and treacherous waters ships sail through.
during the spanish expansion they lost their share because the captains did not realize how unforgiving the tempestuous winds and strong current was.

Drama friday 2014 DC
by inbetween inanyone seen the drama on friday ?.
it was about a pioneer couple, when the husband, also an elder, lost his job, and borrowed money from a fellwo elder, who apparently was considered weatlthy.. the main lesson of the drama was quite ok, even though a bit overdone, touching on the issue of gossip and false assumptions.. but there were at least two subtle lessons, whitch were quite disturbing:.
1) no matter what happens, remain pioneering.

Maybe that is the big announcement this fall. No more Wt. and Awake will be printed. You have to down load them and print them off on your own computer, paper and ink and then go out and give them away. I could see that upsetting the older ones who don't know how to use a computer. My Satantic Smurf Scratch n' Sniff Stickers Story (True!)
by Phaedra inback in the early 80s when i was around 9 or 10, my slightly-older best jw friend relished telling me all the latest scare stories she heard about the satanic smurfs popping off of wallpaper, cutting babies with sharp objects, and running through kingdom hall corridors swearing.
wide-eyed with no critical thinking skills at.
i listened and believed every single word.

All the years I was in the cult they loved those demon stories. I would have nightmares as a child about demons coming to hurt me. This is some of the best mind control there is. Still Totally ADD

Seriously considering stepping down as Elder
by fader77 ini have been an elder for 6 years.
it's been the last 2 years or so that i've really seen the hypocrisy, but the ability to know the shenanigans of the society through the body of elders letters has kind of kept me in there.
i'm to the point now that i can't stand the hatred and bitterness that the body of elders has towards myself and my whole family.

Hello fader77. I so sorry your have to go through this. I was the P.O. when I woke up. I learned all my stress, high blood pressure, PTSD and horrible anxiety was result of being in this organization. My moment came to a head when my father died. Soon I told the body I was stepping down as P.O. but I remained a elder. I then let that ride for another year when I sent a letter to them that I was stepping down as a elder. By that time most already knew I was not happy as a elder and something was wrong. I admit it was a slow process but that how I was able to cope with it. I was lucky I had my wife on my side and it did make it easier for us to leave. All the folks who have made comments about this have given you some real good advice. Pick and choose what you feel would work best for you. There is hope for you and your family to leave together but it will take alot of research and action on your part to make it happen. Please don't let any set backs stop you. In everything we do there is always something that comes up that may not work don't let that discourage you. Just keep working at it. I am now 60 years old and this all happen to me from middle of 2009 to end of 2010. That was after 2 years of lurking on this site. I know this is not fair to you. No organization should have the right to but anyone through this. But this one we have all been involved in does. For myself my health it is 100 times better. I feel like a large weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I still have set backs but the diffrence now is I have the knowlege and freedom to work my way through them. I understand what you are going through and I hope this gives you some encouragement to move forward without to much fear. Take care and best wishes to you and your family. Still Totally ADD

Goodbye JW net
by snare&racket inforgive me for indulging in a goodbye but it would feel wrong not to,.
i hope the discussions and atmosphere here do not change for it is a bubbling brew of doubt, bravery and sincere hunger for answers.
these are healthy ingrediants for humans and especially for a jehovah's witness.. this forum offers not just the ability to ask without consequence, but it also offers the means to be real.

Local Needs 07/08/2014
by piztjw ini don't know whether i should laugh, or run screaming into the night.. tonights "local needs" was titled "are you following 'the slave' "?.
the theme scripture was 1 peter 2: 21. it was applied that by following jesus steps closely we would then be able to keep up with 'the slave'.
now i don't know about others, but if i were to follow one person and that meant to keep up with someone else, it would mean that the person i was following was following the other person.

BU2B I watch a program many years ago about how in Africa they use cow poop to make a home made battery that runs a computer. Maybe the Wt. thinks there is enough cow poop to run all the computer in that contenient. LOL Still Totally ADD

Been asked to share my experience at church!!
by quellycatface inmy vicar asked me if i and another lady would like to say a few words about our faith journey.. she said my story was a particular powerful one, what with the da'ing and subsequent shunning.
i can also choose a hymn or christian song.. i was thinking of romans 8:38, 39 to highlight the shunning and the other scripture ne of how true christians will be indentified, if they have love among themselves etc.
i need to look that one up exactly.. any ideas for content for further content??.

Good for you quelly. Both Reopened Mind and me have given our story to our congregation. Most was very surprise to find out that the Wt. was a cult. You will teach them many things. Good luck to you. Still Totally ADD
